Professional Qualifications
Steve Williams is a Partner in the New York-based valuation advisory practice, Williams-Murdoch, Inc. The firm appraises and advises nationally and internationally on investment real estate; specializing in cross-border debt and equity placement in retail malls, hotels/resorts, multi-tenant office, industrial properties and multi-tenant projects. It also counsels investors about the feasibility of proposed developments and provides expert testimony.
In the field of education, Steve is Director of the Institute of Property Studies, a visiting lecturer at Duke University and an external examiner for the MS in real estate courses at MIT’s Center for Real Estate and Georgia State University’s Robinson Business School. He holds an Honorary Fellowship from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in UK.
He is immediate Past President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a former Chair of the Appraiser Qualifications Board in Washington DC. In these roles, his primary focus has been promulgating appraisal standards and qualifications on a global basis.
Steve teaches appraisal for State Certification and is a national USPAP instructor. He is a regular keynote speaker at real estate investment conferences and appraisal seminars in North America, Europe, Asia. In UK, he is Freeman of the City of London and a member of London’s Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors. Away from appraising, Steve enjoys reading, hiking, swimming and music.
